Yes, this is because, there are two proverbs (“A pen is mightier than a sword” and “A picture is worth thousand words”) that are combined to make this new proverb come to light. Keeping the funny side of the new proverb apart, it has a real meaning that a photographer will definitely agree with. A beautiful picture can make you spell bound and pull you into the dreams.
By looking at a photograph, one cannot decide what has happened in the past or future after clicking that photograph. It is just a snapshot in time. But, you will have a lot of things that can be inferred from a photograph if you look closely. Lot of tiny clues are embedded in each photograph. You should have the mind to interpret the same. The beauty about a photograph is that different people can interpret it in different ways. Any artistic piece has similar qualities. And based on your interpretation, a photograph can give you piece of mind or cause turbulence.

For example, in forensic science the photography is used in crime scene investigations and is integral part of the investigation. Also, to find life on other planets NASA has spent millions of dollars to send a probe to these planets and the probes have taken amazing pictures of the planets and sent them back to earth. Hence, a hobby can bring you the opportunity to earn money as well if you are serious and take it up as a profession.
